Synology DS File

DS file application allows to manage files stored on your DiskStation, upload or download between the NAS and your phone device, or do basic editing tasks. And always securely with HTTPS support. Besides file management, DS file is also a useful tool to do anything from viewing media files or checking work documents when you are on the go.


1) Download the the DS file from the App Store (available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone)

2) Click on Install

3) Once installed, open the application and provide your login details

  • NAS hostname (
  • Your username and password
  • Select "HTTPS"
  • Select "Remember me"

DS file includes the following main sections.

  1. Displays folders and files on your Android device. Another way to browse local files is tapping Offline Files on the login screen.
  2. Lists folders and files on your Synology NAS device, including:
    • Shared Folders: Allows you to navigate and manage the folders and files on your Synology NAS device.
    • My Favorites: Folders that you access often can be added to the My Favorites list, allowing you to access them quickly and easily.
    • Remote Folders: Displays ISO files and CIFS shares you have mounted on your Synology NAS device.
  3. Displays a list of upload and download tasks, as well as the status of each task.
